Fourteen Workers of the Agona Swedru branch of the Metro Mass Transit (MMT) have been dismissed for alleged ticket racketeering.
Mr Otupiri Darko, Agona Swedru Depot Manager who made this known to the Ghana News Agency in an interview at Swedru, said the workers were dismissed after facing an internal Special Committee in Accra.
According to the Manager, some of the affected workers were ticket Managers while others were bus conductors at the Agona local Depot.
He said ticket fraud has been the bane of the Company.
Mr Darko said the decision to sack the workers was to serve as deterrent to others.
He said the Swedru Depot has initiated plans to operate another bus terminal at Mandela-market at Agona Swedru to improve transportation services to passengers in the Municipality.
He said the Depot has also taken steps to improve driver-passenger relationship through public education to ensure good customer care.
Mr Darko called on passengers and other customers to report any irregularities that they may detect to the Depot Management for action.
