The wife of the Akyem-Osiemhene, Mrs Victoria Opoku was killed on Monday when a vehicle knocked her down at Osiem in the Eastern Region.
According to a Police report, around 1500 hours on Monday, a Toyota bus with registration number ER 455-12 was travelling from Bunso to Koforidua and on reaching a section of the road at Osiem knocked down the victim.
Mrs Opoku was rushed to the Saviour Hospital at Osiem where she was referred to the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital but died on the way.
The driver is in police custody while the vehicle had been impounded for further investigations.
Meanwhile the body of the deceased had been deposited at the Regional Hospital in Koforidua for autopsy.
