Several shops and stalls at the Navrongo market in the Upper East region have been destroyed by fire.
It is not clear what caused the fire which started around 16:00hrs GMT.
There are no casualties but some women whose properties are said to have been destroyed by the blaze, fainted upon hearing the news.
Emmanuel Andema, Municipal Chief Executive of Navrongo told Joy News a “lot of stores have been burnt completely” destroying properties worth hundreds of Ghana cedis.
He said personnel of the Ghana Fire Service are battling the inferno.
