A group of 25 Germans from the Cusanuswerk are touring the country as part of their summer studies abroad.
The group led by Dr. Manuel Ganser is currently in the Northern Region and would be visiting Sunyani, Kumasi, Cape coast and Accra.
Cusanuswerk is a Catholic institution for the promotion of talented German students.
It is the scholarship-body of the Catholic Church in Germany and a sister-organization of the Catholic Academic Exchange Services (KAAD).
Whilst KAAD supports foreign students to study in Germany, Cusanuswerk is responsible for supporting German students and the two institutions cooperate in several ways.
Here in Ghana, the group will be meeting religious leaders, media experts, business people, scientists, government experts, politicians and artists to gain insight knowledge into contemporary Ghanaian life.
The group yesterday in Tamale visited the Sekhina Clinic and interacted with its founder, Dr. David Abdulai and the inmates.
Dr. David as he is affectionately called by the inmates told the group of the harrowing experience of some of the inmates who have been marginalized and excluded from their communities.
"it is not every disease that you can use drug to cure, sometimes love and compassion are what they need.
When you show them that love and compassion, it gives them hope to realize that life is worth living," he added.
He said without the clinic, several of the inmates would have been in their graves because of what society sees them to be.
He said services rendered at the clinic are "aimed at the poor and destitute, purely for love of God and neighbour and are absolutely free and we depend on divine providence".
