Young men and women from the Rotaract Club of Accra South have undertaken a clean-up exercise at the shores of the Labadi beach in Accra.
This is the third time the Club is organising a clean-up exercise at the same beach.
Supported by First Capital Plus and La Palm Royal Beach Hotel, the clean-up began early Saturday morning with about 80 persons in what Rotaract calls community service.
According to the Club, the exercise was to contribute its part towards having a clean coastal line.
“We organised such an activity to ensure our beaches are well kept clean and also to improve sanitation in this direction,” said President of the Club, Solomon Sappor Dugbartey.
The Labadi beach is the busiest and most popular beach in Ghana’s capital Accra. It is located behind two of the country’s highly-rated hotels off the coastal lines.
During public holidays and festive seasons, several thousands troop to the beach to have fun and relax.
In fact it is the place of attraction on every holiday where musical performances and cultural drumming and dancing are often held.
Tourists, both foreign and local, also find time to enjoy themselves at the beach even on ordinary days.
