Nafana Presby Senior High has made it to the prelims of the National Science and Maths Quiz (NSMQ) after scraping through in Monday morning's competition.
They obtained 23 points to beat Busunya SHS who scored 15 points.
Kwabre SHS, Kesse Basahyia and Derma SHS all scored single points; nine, six and four respectively.
In the second contest, Bomaa sailed through with just 18 points.
Mim Senior High fell four points short of qualification, failing to make a return to the finals.
Nkoranza Senior High and Technical School (SHTS) finished with 10 points, beating last-placed Ahafoman with eight points.
Drobo SHS qualified in the third contest after finishing with 25 points.
They got a scare from Berekum Presby SHS but the chasers fell three points short of costing Drobo their qualification.
Odomaseman SHS and St. Francis Seminary SHS placed third and fourth with 19 and 11 points respectively.
Akumfi Ameyaw SHTS survived a scare after their lead was narrowed to just one point. However, they survived and qualified to the prelims; beating Sumaman SHS 23 to 22 points.
Hwediem SHS came third with 17 points while Gyamfi Kumanini SHTS – who finished round one with no point - ended the contest with 15 points.
Serwaa Kesse Girls' SHS placed last with eight points, depleting the number of girls’ schools at the national level of the competition.
