Work is expected to be completed in August on a 6-unit classroom block at Nhyiaeso in the Asante Akim North District, sponsored by MTN Ghana Foundation.
The nearly ¢500,000 facility will be available for children and teachers of the local District Assembly Basic School, for the new academic year in September.
Contractors, Wilfrim Enterprise, briefed MTN Foundation officials on the project during an inspection visit.
It was initiated after a Joy News Agenda report as part of the “Violent Shepherd” documentary highlighted the poor state of the old building and how occupants were exposed to danger.
The 7-month in-depth investigative project looked into farmer-nomadic herdsmen clashes in three political administrative regions of Ashanti, Eastern, Bono Ahafo regions.
MTN Ghana Foundation has already disbursed over 70 per cent of construction cost. The project, comprising a library, staff common room and stores, is currently being roofed.
Its completion will end the suffering of pupil of Agogo-Nhyiaeso Basic School who have been learning in dilapidated structures.
Junior High School pupils who trek to school in nearby community are exposed to danger, particularly the female pupils who sometimes suffer sexual abuse.

MTN Ghana Foundation officials led by Corporate Service Executive, Sam Koranteng, visited the project site where Project Manager, Benjamin Atta Frimpong, briefed them.
"After the roof, we are going to do the plastering; we’ll have the lighting and then we have to do the ceiling and then painting. After painting, we have to furnish it with everything in it; the chairs, tables and everything. Within two to three months, [by August] we have to finish it," Mr. Frimpong added.
Corporate Service Executive at MTN Ghana, Sam Koranteng is satisfied at the work rate and quality of work done so far.
He says the project is a true reflection of what MTN Ghana Foundation stands for.
"It's a testament of MTN Ghana Foundation's commitment to the communities in which we operate and we deem this community [Nhyiaeso] as one of them and the Foundation has education as one of them."
Sam Koranteng is happy at work rate
Mr. Koranteng is hopeful the facility would be ready for use even before the start of next academic year.
"We have inspected the progress of the work. It's been three months now and what we see out here is a good impression of the contractor; he's made us proud and from the excitement of the community as well, I can see that they are looking forward to the completion of this project . We are on course."

Chiefs and people of Nhyiaeso welcomed the team with a mini-durbar
Asante-Akyem North Director of Education, Ernest Kwadwo Afari, says the facility will serve six other communities in the area.
According to him, communities such as Wenamda, Pewodie, Jerusalem and Azorkie, among others will all benefit from the facility.
Assemblyman for Ananekrom Electoral area, Peter Abaji, is equally excited.
"We were not even expecting a bigger classrooms like these but through Multimedia [Group Ltd] and MTN Ghana Foundation, Nhyiaeso can now boast of a decent basic school.
