Ahead of the 3rd China Trade Week (CTW) Ghana 2019, organisers, MIE Group, have outlined details and new features of the popular exhibition and networking event.
Addressing a news conference in Accra on Monday, International Events Director at MIE Group, Zahoor Ahmed, stated: "Following the successful Belt and Road Forum in Beijing where heads of governments from across the globe agreed to lift the New Silk Road to the next level...”
“…by promoting shared growth and collaboration among the 120 countries which support the Belt and Road Initiative, CTW Ghana is the logical step to expand trade relations between China and West Africa.”
Belt and Road Initiative
The Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) is a development strategy adopted by the Chinese government involving infrastructure development and investments in 152 countries and international organizations in Europe, Asia, Middle East, Latin America and Africa.
"Belt" refers to the overland routes for road and rail transportation, called "the Silk Road Economic Belt"; whereas "road" refers to the sea routes, or the 21st Century Maritime Silk Road.
According to Chinese state news agency, Xinhua, China-Ghana bilateral exchange reached U$6.67 billion in 2017, representing an 11.7 percent year-on-year increase. Bilateral exchange between the two countries positively affect nearly all industry sectors.
CTW
Ghana will host the 3rd consecutive edition of the annual tradeshow CTW from the June 19-21, at the Accra International Conference Centre. The event is supported by CTW-Ghana partners, World Trade Centre Accra, Proxynet and Everpure.

Mr. Ahmed said this year’s event is bringing more exhibitors and maintaining the 3 days to allow for more patronage for the general public, “and so we hope the local business community will be eager to come again and see what’s new".
“This year’s exhibition will showcase more variety and high-end Chinese manufacturers looking to develop long term relations with local buyers across Ghana.
“The companies will cover various industry sectors such as Chemicals, Food & Beverage, Construction Materials, Outdoor Goods, Daily Necessities, Furniture, PPP, Home Electricals & Electronics, Clothing & Textiles, Television & Satellite, Baby Products and Personal Care amongst others,” he added.

A member of the events organisers, Charles Kweku Hammond addressing the media
China Trade Week is organised by MIE Events, an international Exhibition Company with local Partners Geovision Services, who are thrilled to be bringing back the comprehensive China focused event to the West Africa region. The event has already had success in Kenya, Ethiopia, the United Arab Emirates, South Africa and Morocco.
As a business event, CTW Ghana seeks more to engage the professional buyers in retail, wholesale, distribution and import/export, as well as entrepreneurs who have been thinking about starting trade relations with China.
For visitors who have not had any experience working with China before and don’t know where to start, a conference has been developed to give visitors background information about China and how to effectively trade with China.
The calibre of speakers for 2019 Seminars and the parallel Conference will be more in-depth and rewarding.
