Former President Jerry John Rawlings and other leading members of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) were among those who graced the memorial mass marking the fifth anniversary of the death of Paul Victor Obeng.
Samuel Ofosu Ampofo and former minister, Akwasi Oppong Fosu were also in attendance at the Good Shepherd Catholic Church in Tema Community 2 on Friday.
Paying tribute to the former leading member of the Provisional National Defence Council (PNDC) and later NDC paid glowing tribute to the generous soul the late P.V. Obeng was.
During the memorial mass lead by Rev. John Amoah, the Amenfi East MP described the late Government Advisor as a humble person who possessed a modest temperament.
Mr Oppong Fosu spoke about how the staunch Christian was gifted with the ability to embrace diversity and promote inclusiveness was able to use it to serve his nation.
“Those we love and cherish never die because they live in our hearts,” the former Local Government Minister said of the impact late Mr Obeng had on his family, friends and colleagues.
For her part, the widow, Rose Obeng acknowledged all those who supported the family after and through the period of their loss.
She hinted of a foundation being instituted before the end of 2019 to preserve the legacy of Mr Obeng and the Tema Community Two roundabout named after her husband.
