The University of Professional Studies, Accra (UPSA) is set to introduce three new programmes from next academic year.

The programmes which have been sanctioned by the National Accreditation Board include MBA in Impact Entrepreneurship and Innovation; Master of Arts in Peace, Security and Intelligence Management as well as Master of Arts in Branding & Communication.

The Vice-Chancellor, Professor Abednego Feehi Okoe Amartey made this known in an address to graduands at the second session of the 11th Congregation of the University on Thursday, July 25, 2019.

“I am glad to announce that UPSA has received accreditation from the National Accreditation Board to run Master of Arts in Peace, Security and Intelligence, Master of Arts in Branding and Communication and MBA in Impact Entrepreneurship and Innovation for the 2019/2020 academic year,” he revealed.

He added that the new programmes have meticulously been structured and will meet the growing demands of businesses and address modern challenges in the area of branding, entrepreneurship and security.

He said “as the only professional university in Ghana, we are mindful of academic programmes that would inure to the benefit of society and the timing of these programmes are just apt for the times we find ourselves.” 

UPSA Graduates

In all, a total of 1,360 students graduated from the Faculty of Accounting and Finance which was held at the University’s newly commissioned Auditorium.

Out this figure were 1,124 Undergraduates and 236 Diploma students. For the undergraduate level, 36 obtained First Class, 356 Second Class Upper, 356 Second Class Lower, 269 Third Class and 105 Passes.  While 11 of the diplomates attained Distinction, 161 obtained credit and 64 secured a Pass.

The Vice-Chancellor also urged graduands to “get ahead of change” by refusing to be complacent with the first degrees and diplomas they have obtained. He says change is inevitable in life, and the only way one could get ahead of change was constant improvement.

Today marks an important day in your lives, yet the beginning of a journey… I am admonishing you to pursue your masters’ degrees and professional qualifications. Never get complacent. This is the only way you can keep ahead of change,” he said.
