Founder of the Ghana DJ Awards Festival, Merqury Quaye, has once again advised DJs to place value on their craft.
For years, the TV and Radio personality, as well as MC, has encouraged DJs to position themselves well to benefit financially from their profession.
In an interview with DJ Aroma on Pure FM, Merqury Quaye told DJs to stop joking with the profession by performing for free.
“Those who joke with the profession [must] stop. Some people are really joking with the profession. They are ready to play anywhere for free. It is just fun for them,” he bemoaned.
According to the C.E.O of Merqury Republic, no doctor treats patients for free adding, “this is also a serious business.”
“DJing is the biggest thing right now. I just want to say big applause to all DJs taking this game seriously,” he added.
Since 2012, Merqury Republic has been organising Africa’s biggest annual DJ Awards Festival dubbed Ghana DJ Awards.
The 2019 Ghana DJ Awards which is expected to happen in September, is under the theme ‘Party In Ghana’.
All the biggest DJs on the continent as well as artistes and some corporate executives will grace this year’s edition of the awards.
