With Ghanaian players resuming usual duty playing for their various European clubs, Joy Sports Owuraku Ampofo will be monitoring them each week, highlighting the top 5 performers playing in Europe.
Over the weekend, quite a number of Ghanaian players found the net but these were the five top performers.
Andre Ayew – Swansea City
The Black Stars captain was very enterprising for the Swans as they defeated promotion rivals Leeds United to remain on top of the Championship. Andre Ayew continued his fine start to the Championship with a very matured performance over the weekend. Despite failing to get on the scoresheet, the 29-year-old worked tirelessly on the wings managing three successful tackles whilst completing two dribbles. His hard work attracted praises from coach Steve Cooper and Swansea fans who urged the Ghanaian international to stay with the club.
Majeed Ashimeru – Red Bull Salzburg
The 21-year-old scored his first-ever goal for Red Bull Salzburg over the weekend against WSG Swarovski. In his first-ever start for Red Bull Salzburg, he scored the opening goal in a 5-1 win at the Tivoli Stadium Tirol in the Austrian Bundesliga. His incredible performance against WSG Swarovski was enough to see him included in the Austrian Bundesliga Team of the Week.
Thomas Partey – Atletico Madrid
Partey was the hero of the night for Los Rojiblancos as he scored his first goal of the season against Eibar. Just six minutes after coming on for Joao Felix, the Ghanaian midfielder produced a fine finish to seal the comeback which ensured that Atletico Madrid will head into the international break on top of La Liga with a 100% record.
Jordan Ayew – Crystal Palace
One man who has carried his form from the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations into the new season is Jordan Ayew. He joined Crystal Palace on a permanent basis during the summer and so far, he has been their main man this season.
After a fine performance at Old Trafford on matchday two, Jordan Ayew continued his blistering start to the season by scoring the winner against his former side Aston Villa.
His goal saw him win the man of the match award and Jordan will hope to continue his fine form after the international break.
Caleb Ekuban – Trabzonspor
After scoring his first-ever career hat-trick against Trabzonspor in the Europa League qualifier a week ago, Ekuban opened his account in the Super Lig. He scored the equalizer against Fenerbahce with a beautiful header. His goal ensured that Trabzonspor are still unbeaten in the league after three matches.
