MR MOSES MACLEAN ABNORY ASSUMES OFFICE AS THE NEW REGISTRAR OF TAKORADI TECHNICAL UNIVERSITY
Mr Moses Maclean Abnory has assumed office as the new Registrar of the Takoradi Technical University (TTU) after the Governing Council of the University appointed him at its meeting held on 20th June, 2019.
Mr. Moses Maclean Abnory comes to the new position with vast experiences in Educational Reforms, Strategic Management, Organization and Team Effectiveness Assessment, Facilitation and Pedagogy, Creative and Innovative Management, Administrative and Policy Formulation coupled with the ability to solve problems and achieve the desired goals.
Born on 31st July, 1968 in Asokore in the Ashanti Region of Ghana, Mr Abnory started his elementary education at TI Ahmediya Primary School at Asokore. He furthered his education and had his General Certificates Examination at Ordinary Level and Advance Level at Effiduasi Secondary School (1988) and Kumasi High School, Ghana (1990) respectively.
He also holds a Diploma in Education together with a Bachelor’s Degree in Arts (Social Sciences) which was awarded concurrently in 1996 at the University of Cape coast. He followed this up and earned a Master of Business Administration in Health Services Administration at University of Ghana in 2000.
In 2011 and 2014, he was awarded a Postgraduate Diploma in Organizational Development and a Master of Art in Organizational Development respectively in the University of Cape Coast. He is currently pursuing a Doctor of Philosophy programme in Public Health at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST).
Until his appointment as the Registrar of TTU, Mr Abnory was the Director of the Directorate of Legal, Consular and General Services, University of Cape Coast (December 2015 to August 2019). He started his career and climbed through the ranks first as a Senior Administrative Assistant (Public Relations Section, U.C.C / Acting Welfare Officer, 1996 to 1997) to a Senior Administrative Assistant (Office of the Dean of Students, U.C.C, 1997 to 1998).
He also assisted the Registrar in the Directorate of University Health Services from 2000 to 2012. He then became the Deputy Registrar in 2010 and headed the Division of Legal, Consular and General Services, U.C.C from October 2012 to November 2015). Throughout his ranks, the various schedules and offices afforded him the opportunity to serve as either a Chairman, Secretary or a Member to a number of Committees and Boards.
Mr Moses M. Abnory served on the following Boards/Committees as the Chairman until his appointment, Sectional Heads (DLCGS), Tender Opening Committee, SRC Hostel Management Board, Audit Report Implementation Committee (ARIC), Tamale Polytechnic). On Secretaryship to Boards/Committees, he served on Development Committee, Audit Report Implementation Committee (ARIC), UCC, Ad hoc Committee (as and when necessary).
His rich experiences also brought about his appointment as a member of the following Committees, Local Organising (U6 Conference, UCC 2016), Campus Security and Safety, Transport, Administration Appointments and Promotions, School Management Board for Pre-Tertiary Schools on campus, Congregation Planning, Transport, Board of Survey and University Printing Management Board
His leadership qualities span beyond the confines of academia to religion and society. He has played major roles such President - Men’s Fellowship, Bethel Congregation, Presbyterian, Vice-President - Association of Health Services Administrators, Ghana, Founding Member - Ghana Association of Quasi Healthcare Institutions, Branch Representative - GAQHI, Western and Central Region Hospitals, President - Graduate Students Association of Ghana (GRASAG). Others included Member- University of Ghana Council, Local President- National Union of Ghana Students (NUGS, UCC), Member of the General Assembly - Students Representative Council, UCC.Â
Notwithstanding his schedules he is also a member of the following Associations; Ghana Association of University Administrators (GAUA), Association of Health Services Administrators – Ghana (AHSAG), International Professional Managers Association (I. P.M.A) – UK, Graduate Member – (Charted Institute of Administrators and Management Consultants (I.A.M.C) – Ghana.
In the field of academia, Moses has a lot of publications to his credit with research interests including issues of Health Services Management, Organizational Development, Productivity Management, Human Resource and Relations Management among others.
Mr Moses Maclean Abnory is a Christian and a staunch member of the Presbyterian Church, Ghana. His hobbies are Reading and Writing, Planning Social and Charitable Events, Listening to music, and Farming. He is a self-motivated, organized, enthusiastic, dedicated and a hard working individual who is committed to his career.
He exhibits good knowledge of his professional area and impart it with great passion towards the achievement of results. He is an experienced educational administrator and a health services management consultant as well as an effectual leader with proven ability to develop registries of emerging higher institutions of learning (Universities).
He has nineteen years of higher education and health services management experience, five years of consultancy services in the field of managing organizations and its stakeholders, a strong passion for facilitating personal and staff capacity building.
His major strengths as an Organizational Development expert and a University administrator are in the management of the University’s resources, his ability to work under pressure, advise and assist in implementing important decisions and policies, as well as his pragmatic and visionary drive makes him suitable in acquiring a lot of the positions stated above.
He is married with three children.
