Hundreds of mechanics in Asante Akim, Konongo have stormed the Konongo Police Station demanding the release of two of their members.
Thursday morning’s demonstration follows the arrest of a driver by the Konongo GPRTU local taskforce, for picking passengers at an unauthorised place.
The driver had sped off with the member of the task force during a confrontation.

A chase by another vehicle led to an accident where some people died including two mechanics in the pursuing vehicle, Luv FM’s Erastus Asare Donkor reports.
The mechanics in the area blamed the GPRTU for the accident and stormed the place with a demonstration yesterday.

Police moved in and arrested two of the demonstrators.
All the mechanics have besieged the police station demanding the release of their colleagues.
