Women’s Premier League week 2 preview

Matchday two of the Ghana Women’s League promises to be even intriguing with the Super Clash between Police Ladies and Hasaacas expected to highlight the fixtures. Two Regional Derbies see AshTown Ladies and Fabulous Ladies lock horns as Soccer Intellectuals welcome Sea Lions. Here’s a preview of all the fixtures. Lady Strikers vs Immigration Ladies Lady strikers will play host to Immigration Ladies at the Cape Coast Robert Mensah Park. Both teams did not enjoy a fruitful start as they tasted defeat in the opening game of the league. Lady Strikers lost to Police Ladies by 4-1, and will seek victory over a more experience Immigrations Ladies side. The two teams walk into Saturdays match with no points and hope to grab a point if not all three, marking the game as a crunchy affair. Experienced Gifty Appiah will lead the attack for Immigration Ladies while Suzzy Dede Teye will be after her goal scoring boots again in this fixture. Immigration ladies are 6th with Lady Strikers on the bottom of the table.                                                                                                                            Police Ladies vs Hasaacas Police Ladies will continue their quest for glory against four times southern zone champions Hasaacas ladies. The “dooo” ladies lost their first game at the Essipong Sports stadium by a lone goal. Police Ladies however, sit at the summit of the league table after winning their first game heavily. Coach Basigi will lead his side to a redemption mission when they travel to the La Town Community park on Saturday to face Police Ladies. Janet Egyir won Queen of the match and will be a hard nut to crack for Police Ladies’ sharp attack of Janet Ayeyam and Grace Animah who also won the MVP on match day one. Police Ladies’ third  goalkeeper Nana Ama Asantewaa will likely be in post after benching favorite Fafali Duhamsi and managing to make some important saves to keep her team winning. Halifax vs Samaria Ladies Samaria Ladies look forward to repeating an easy victory over youthful side Halifax ladies who had a 2-2 draw through Enerstina Tetteh’s brace against Sea lions. While Samaria ladies secured an impossible 3 points over Hasaacas on match day one. The fantastic team play coupled with youthful exuberance of Halifax will be brought to bear again against a third placed team who will boast Ernestina Tetteh and the swift dribbling of Constance Serwaa Agyeiwaa at the La Town Park on Sunday. Soccer intellectuals vs Sea Lions Adu Yaw Assasan Wembley Park, the home venue of Soccer Intellectuals will witness a battle when Sea Lions visit the ground in search of their first win, the home team needed a lone goal to snatch all three points against Immigrations Ladies. Winning this game will solely depend on both coaches ability to read and vary their tactics. Sea lions struggled to earn a point a their back yard against halifax Ampem Darkoa vs Northern Ladies Ohene Ameyaw Park has the pleasure of hosting the battle of the ‘big girls’ on Sunday when Ampem Darkoa who leads the Northern zone log after a 5-0 mauling over Ashtown ladies play fourth placed Northern Ladies who tested waters with a home draw. The ‘Nanamma’ without the services of key players such as Pricilla Adubea and Pricella Okyere did not suffer enough impact as 16-year –old  Ophelia Amponsah had a five star performance netting four goals. Northern Ladies fill their vacuum with Jafara Rahama with Coach Adarkwa look forward to a possible win in what seems the battle of the titans. AshTown vs Fabulous Ladies AshTown Ladies play host to Fabulous Ladies in a crunch fixture set for the Paa Joe Park. In their first matches, they both tasted sour defeat, Fabulous Ladies encountered a humiliating 3-0 defeat at home to Pearl Pia Ladies, whilst Ashtown heads into Sunday’s game after conceding five unanswered goals in their league opener. Both teams sit seventh and eighth respectively. Midfielder Alice Kusi, captain Agnes Aduako and forward Florence Fosuaa Annor will be key for Fabulous Ladies while Veronica Darkwa and Joyce Fenteng Antwiwaa also leads Ashtown Ladies. Supreme Ladies vs Pearl Pia MVP winner Sarah Kulible look poised to change the narrative for Supreme Ladies, a side which could not pick a point in their league opener. The story might not be different from what we witnessed as they face Pearl Pia ladies who sit second on the log after a 3-0 defeat to Fabulous ladies, at the Tamale Utrecth park on Saturday. Barikisu Abdul Rahman will lead the attack for Pearl Pia after scoring a brace in matchday 1. Prison Ladies vs Kumasi Sports Academy FA Cup holders, Prison Ladies will leave their comfort zone to battle Kumasi Sports Academy on Saturday at the Paa Joe park, they are both placed third and fifth respectively with Prison Ladies recording a 2-1 victory while KUSA held Northern Ladies to a draw.
