Residents of Promised Land, near Adjei-Kojo, Tema, were on Tuesday morning panic-stricken when a jealous man was alleged to have strangled his wife to death with a nylon rope for allegedly denying him sex.
The culprit, John Ninson, a 42- year-old driver, was said to have suspected his wife, Patience Ninson, a trader, of having an extra-marital affair with another man. He claimed she had been sending explicit text messages to the secret lover, and therefore throttled the 38-year-old trader to death.
The couple, according to information gathered, had other cases pending at the Sakumono District Police Headquarters which were being investigated until the horrific incident happened.
The police are currently hunting for John, who fled his home after allegedly killing the woman.
Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Emmanuel Yankah, the District Crime Officer of Ashaiman, who confirmed the dreadful act to DAILY GUIDE, noted that the deceased, who left behind three children—including a set of twins—at around 12:30 am that night, seized his wife's phones after accusing her of exchanging explicit text messages and refusing to have sex with him.
The seizure of the phones led to an argument between the couple, but it was resolved by a neighbour who heard their unusual noise.
According to the police officer, the following morning, the neighbour revisited the house to check on the couple, but he was told that the suspect had left and the wife was still fast asleep.
| Upon his return, he met the sister of the deceased whom he informed about the scuffle between the couple. The sister went to the house and discovered that Patience was dead. The case was immediately reported to the Ashaiman District Police Headquarters. Police personnel were deployed to the scene, only to find Patience's lifeless body on her matrimonial bed. Meanwhile, the mortal remains of Patience was deposited at the Police Hospital morgue in Accra pending autopsy, as investigations into the matter are ongoing. |
