Manya Krobo Secondary School in the Eastern Region will soon be upgraded into a model school. It has been awarded on contract at the cost of more than ¢4.6bn and it is expected to be completed within 18 months. The Deputy Minister of Education, Science and Sports, Kwame Ampofo Twumasi announced this during the presentation of a 58 seater bus to the school at Nuaso. The ¢785m bus was presented by the PTA. Mr. Ampofo Twumasi said the contract on the upgrading of the school covers the rehabilitation of the Visual Arts and Science blocks. He called on parents to invest in their wards education. Mr. Ampofo Twumasi said so far, 31 second cycle schools have been upgraded into model schools. He advised the students not to indulge in activities that will ruin their lives. The Headmaster Ebenezer Narh Sackitey appealed to government to assist the school to build dormitories, dining and assembly halls as well as a wall round the compound. At the same function, the Rotary Club of Tema presented assorted books worth US$40m to the seven second cycle and 18 Junior Secondary Schools in the Yilo and Manya Krobo Districts. GBC
