Dr Joyce Asibey, a retired educationist on Wednesday advised parents to encourage their children to pursue higher academic goals in order to make them better citizens in future. She said parents should be responsive to the educational needs of their children and also pay regular visits to them at school to assess their performance. Dr Asibey gave the advise during the handing over of renovated classroom blocks and recreational equipment, to the Methodist Primary School, by the 1974 year group of Aburi Girls Secondary School, at the cost of GHC 8000. Dr Asibey, former Headmistress of Aburi Girls, cautioned pupils of the school against activities that would not enhance their academic pursuit. "I urge you to watch current affairs, news and other educative programmes to improve on your language skills." Ms Cathrine Ashiley, Founder and Leader of the Group noted that members had supported the school for the last six years in terms of educational materials and uniforms. She said the group decided to adopt the school for assistance as part of its social responsibility to the community which supported their growth and development. She said soon a library complex would be put up for the school to whip up the children's interest in reading and research. Mr Henry Aboagye, Headmaster of the school, expressed appreciation to the group and called on members to provide the academic facility with teachers' bungalows to enable the school to retain professional teachers.
