The NPP should, therefore, direct its resources and energies to ensuring that qualified agents are recruited to man the polling stations to ensure victory for the party in the 2016 election, he said.
Nana Akufo-Addo was addressing NPP executives and supporters in Wa as part of his campaign tour of the Upper West Region to solicit votes from constituency executives in preparation towards the impending special elections slated for August 31, 2014.
He said victory could be achieved if members of the NPP remained united and committed and work towards the course of winning the 2016 elections.
He appealed to NPP supporters to be more interest in monitoring the voters’ registration exercise to ensure its success.
He said the Better Ghana Agenda that the National Democratic Congress (NDC) promised Ghanaians had collapsed as businesses and agriculture were dwindling and cocoa production declining, while there had been high utility tariffs with low salaries.
Nana Akufo-Addo said it had been the burning ambition of the NPP to see the cohesion and integration development in Ghana, hence its intention to bridge the development gap between the north and the south through the establishment of the Northern Development Authority.
He, however, expressed NPP’s disappointment at the NDC’s Savannah Accelerated Development Authority (SADA) activities in the north.
About his age, Nana Addo said President Alassane Ouattara of Cote d’Ivoire, whom he claimed was 72 years, had turned the fortunes of that country around after coming out of war, an improvement 10 times higher than what pertained in Ghana.
Dr Mahammudu Bawumia, 2012 Vice Presidential Candidate of the NPP, said Ghana's economy was in crisis, noting: “Ghanaians gave power to NDC who promised them a “Better Ghana” but now Ghanaians are in “Wahala Ghana.”
He told the supporters that for the past six years, government had spent 6.5 billion dollars to maintain the value of the cedi through borrowing adding "you cannot borrow out yourself from bankruptcy, you need to go to the economic fundamentals and ensure the implementation of sound economy principles”, he said.
