The Upper West Region’s Vice Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) is shocked at the attempt by the National Chairman of the New Patriotic Party, Paul Afoko to drag the name of the National Democratic Congress into the confusion and brouhaha that have engulfed the party.
The party’s headquarters was the scene of mayhem on Tuesday, when thugs wielding machetes and weapons invaded the premises to disrupt the news conference.
Personnel from the Police service had to intervene to restore law and order.
Mr. Paul Afoko who was addressing the media together with his General Secretary, Kwabena Agyapong, later blamed agents of the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC) for masterminding the attacks.
However, Mr. Hafiz Bin Salih writing on his Facebook wall stated emphatically, ‘‘let’s leave the NDC and carry the shame and disgrace alone."
He wondered why the issue was not resolved by dialogue.
‘‘As a party we tout ourselves as the true democrats on the Ghanaian political scene. Nothing can be more embarrassing to a giant political party like the NPP than what happened at the Party's HQ yesterday.
In this day and age we are telling the entire world that we cannot settle our petty disagreements through dialogue but rather through pervasive violence,’’ he fumed.
Whilst complaining that the management style used by Paul Afoko and Kwabena Agyapong was problematic, Mr. Bin Salih was quick to add that the two need the support and prayers of all party members to succeed.
‘‘I pray they repent but if they continue to be unrepentant then they are likely to hit a snag very soon’’, he added.
