A member of the National Democratic Congress is threatening legal action against the National Executives who he accuses of overstaying their tenure.
The former TEIN President at the Akrokerri School of Education, Linus Njonolah says the party is acting in clear violation of its constitution and the leaders must be brought to book.
The tenure of the Kwabena Adjei led executive was supposed to have ended last year but they extended the tenure for another year.
The party has begun processes to elect a new national executive, beginning with the election of constituency officers.
Ahead of the elections though, Linus Njonolah has sued the national executives for extending their mandate.
He said the act is illegal and wants the court to address the anomaly.
But the leadership of the party says he should use the party’s structure to address his grievances rather than resorting to the court.
The NDC Deputy General Secretary in charge of operations, George Lawson told Joy News even though the party is yet to receive a copy of the writ, the party will address the concerns raised.
He admitted that the executives had overstayed but was quick to add that there was nothing illegal about it.
He explained, per the constitution of the NDC, congress can extend the tenure of the executives.
He said in place of the Congress, the NEC can also extend the tenure and that is what has happened in this case.
