The Ghana Police School of Public Safety received a boost in creating a more conducive classroom atmosphere after Stanbic Bank Ghana Ltd donated some 30 air conditioners.
Presenting the equipment to the Inspector General of Police Alhassan Mohammed, the Head of Personal banking Nana Benneh expressed the bank’s excitement in patterning the police service to provide consumer products to its personnel.
He spoke of the bank as having the “widest range of consumer products and invited the police to join the Stanbic family by routing their pay checks through the bank.
The police he said, would enjoy competitive mortgages, personal loans and could shop for home appliances paid for by the bank to be paid back by the customer in installments.
Thanking the management of the bank for the gesture, the IGP called it a “well-illustrated example” of public-private partnership acknowledged by the Service as key to improving performance.
“Let me say a big thank you but still there is more to be done”, the IGP pointed out.
He invited the management of the bank to look into opportunities to turn the physical asset at the police headquarters into profitable ventures. He was particular about hospitality centers.
The CEO of Stanbic Bank Alhassan Andani welcomed the request. He interacted with the top hierarchy of the Police Service to identify other needs that could be satisfied.
Staff of the bank who had set up a working desk at the premises stayed to spend the day with police personnel at the headquarters at Accra.
