Reports from the Electoral Commission headquarters in Accra say the Commission Chairman, Dr. Kwadwo Afari-Gyan is meeting with the eight main parties to determine a date for the run-off.
Following the failure of the two main parties to get the 50+1 per cent votes required to clinch a first round victory, a run-off is being planned.
Amidst intense security, Dr. Afari-Gyan is locked up in a meeting now with representatives of the parties to take a final decision.
Joy News’ Sammy Darko reports that two days, December 21, and 28, are being considered for the run-off.
After collating votes from all the 230 Constituencies, the NPP’s Nana Akufo-Addo obtained 49.13 per cent.
His main rival, Prof. John Atta Mills of the NDC also polled 47.92.
These figures are expected to be announced by Dr. Afari-Gyan when he addresses the media later today.
Since last night Joy FM’s Election Headquarters put out figures that will not be substantially different from those expected be announced by the EC Chairman.
