Twenty-nine people described by the police as "machomen" aboard two buses, which were intercepted by the police at Apeguso on December 7, the election day, have been granted police enquiry bail. They were suspected of planning to disrupt the elections. According to the security agencies nothing incriminating was found on the suspects following investigations after their arrest. The suspects who came from Accra were arrested upon a tip-off when the were said to be moving from one polling station to another with the intention to disrupt the electoral process at Apeguso in the Eastern Region. Superintendent Okyere Darko, Akosombo District Police Commander, told the Times on phone yesterday that the suspects were granted bail on the same day of their arrest. The security agencies have warned that they will not entertain trouble makers during December 28 polls. Source: Ghanaian Times
