It has been brought to the notice of the Convention People’s Party (CPP) UK & Ireland branch that there are persons claiming to belong to an organisation called the "OVERSEAS BRANCH OF THE CPP" and issuing statement in support of Nana Akufo-Addo, presidential candidate of the NPP.
For the avoidance of doubt there is no such body or organisation called the "OVERSEAS BRANCH OF THE CPP”.
The only CPP Branch in the UK is the constitutionally recognised branch of the CPP.
The official position of the CPP branch on the coming second round elections was taken after its Steering Committee/Executive Committee Meeting of the 10th December, and duly communicated to the CPP Central Committee in Accra.
The UK & Ireland branch decision is fully aligned with the decision of the Central Committee of the mother party which is that the CPP will not support nor endorse either of the two candidates from the NPP or NDC.
And shall remain neutral in the impending second round of the presidential elections.
This Branch thus completely repudiates any alleged press releases seeking to be attributable to the Branch or its members.
Our view is that a recent statement by someone calling himself Alhaji Abass Mensah, is an act of desperation by elements within the NPP incapable of putting their case for re-election to the Ghanaian electorate.
The CPP is an independent political party and will not be used or caught up in the machinations of other parties.
