The Ghana Anti-Corruption Campaign Coalition (GACC) has expressed concerns about failure by government to fully implement the National Anti-Corruption Action Plan (NACAP)..

The acion plan was ratified by Ghana's Parliament this year and it is expected to support the fight against corruption..

NACAP is expected to contextualise and mobilise efforts and resources of stakeholders to prevent and fight corruption through the promotion of high ethics and integrity as well as vigorous enforcement of applicable laws.

It also aims to institutionalise efficiency, accountability and transparency in the public, private and not -for profit sectors as well as conduct effective investigations and prosecution of corrupt conduct.

It also focuses on causes, effects and measures to control corruption and outlines measures for strengthening key anti-corruption and law enforcement agencies, improving investigation and prosecution.

According to GACC, the country stands a better chance of winning the war against corruption if adequate resources are made available to fully implement the plan.

Linda Ofori-Kwafo, Executive Secretary of the Coalition, said implementation of NACAP has become crucial in light of the many corruption and allegations of corruption resurfacing every day in the media.

The Bureau of National Investigation is currently looking into a 7 million cedis ghost-names scandal at the National Service Secretariat, while the GYEEDA rot and revelations of corruption at the ongoing World Cup Commission of Enquiry have become common examples of the Ghana's corruption problem.

GACC is confident NACAP can go a long way to check the situation.

GACC is a cross-sectoral grouping of public, private and civil society organizations aimed at building a national effort to tackle corruption and devise effective control measures.
