The Advance Business College in Accra has banned indecent dressing among students. Also banned is the use of mobile phones in lecture rooms, the library and the computer laboratory. The president of the college, Ebenezer Ampiah, announced this at the third matriculation ceremony of the college at which 96 students were admitted for the 2008/2009 academic year, to pursue various courses in business, marketing, management studies and graphic design. Addressing the ceremony, he advised the students to make conscious effort to dress decently at all times and for whatever occasion of the college, stressing, "I mean dressing to cover all parts of the body, which every person with the right conscience knows must be covered." Mr Ampiah said the college was dedicated to provide programmes leading to the development of skills that will enable beneficiaries to fit perfectly into the global world of business. He advised the students to study hard to enable them acquire the much needed skills in their chosen profession. In an address read on his behalf, the Vice-Chancellor of the University of Education, Winneba, Professor Akwasi Asabere-Ameyaw, said "It is important that business and art education continue to serve as an important driving force in the economies of many developed and developing countries". He urged the students to avoid acts of violence and civil disorder that would threaten smooth academic work in the school.
