The Youth Wing of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Kwabre East Constituency has demanded the nomination of only people with good party credentials to the position of District Chief Executive (DCE) for the area.
This, they said, was necessary to ensure the growth and vibrancy of the party.
This was contained in a statement issued and signed by Mr Robert Arthur, Constituency Youth Organizer, at Mamponteng in Ashanti at the weekend.
The Party’s Youth expressed disappointment at what they said were subtle attempts to sideline some hard working party loyalists in the appointment to the DCE position by some party bigwigs.
“We would use all possible means and the party’s structures to oppose the nomination of an unknown person as the DCE for Kwabre East,” the statement said.
The Youth claimed to have credible information that some members of the National Executive Committee (NEC) of the NDC were working hard to get their favourites appointed to fill the position even though they were unknown to the party.
To them, Mr Yaw Adu-Ansere, the defeated NDC Parliamentary Candidate for the area in the last election, was their choice.
“Mr Adu-Ansere fought tooth and nail to increase the NDC’s votes in the constituency, to over 13,000 as against 5,000 in the 2004 elections,” the statement said.
