Lawyer of the beleaguered army officer Col Kwadwo Damoah has threatened court action against the institution if he is dismissed from service.
Retd Captain Nkrabeah Effah Darteh told Joy News there is no basis for the dismissal of the army officer.
The Daily Guide Newspaper has cited a letter it claimed was written by Major General J.N. Adinkrah, Chief of Army Staff, axing Col Damoah from the service.
According to the Daily Guide, the said letter claims Col Damoah’s services were no longer needed.
He is accused of having attracted “several media publications” which according to the Chief of Army Staff, had brought the name of the service into disrepute.
The head of Public Relations at the military high command, Col N.K. Nibo in an interview with Joy News, could not deny or confirm the existence of such a letter, but will not also be surprised if Col Damoah is sacked from the service.
Retd Captain Effah Darteh said his client is entitled to know the basis for his dismissal.
Even though he conceded the president has the power to terminate his client’s appointment, he was sure the matter had not reached that stage.
He challenged Col Nibo to publicly declare which media outlets his client is purported to have spoken to which has been used as basis for his dismissal, adding, Col Damoah is a professional and will not engage in that.
Touting the credentials of his client, Effah Darteh wondered why the military will no longer need the services of a qualified lawyer and an accountant.
He has served notice he would go to court if the dismissal is carried through.
For now, Col Damoah goes to work as expected, eRtd Captain Effah Darteh noted.
Meanwhile, residents of Gyaman in the Brong Ahafo Region, have “threatened to advice themselves” if their native is dismissed.
Spokesperson of the concerned residents, Stephen Afriyie, told Joy News the threat of dismissal of Col Damoah goes contrary to President Mills’ call to be father to all.
They smell political persecutions against Col Damoah.
