The Office of former President J. A. Kuffour says it has not ordered a BMW 7 Series vehicle as reported in the media.The vehicle, currently at the Safe Bond Warehouse at the Tema Port, has attracted National Security interest because of what was described as state of the art security features.Hordes of National Security operatives were seen on April 28 inspecting the said vehicle with rumours circulating that the former President had imported the vehicle for his personal use.In the heat of recent withdrawal of former President Kuffour’s BMW vehicles by the state, some NPP sympathizers offered to buy him some vehicles.Citi News cannot independently confirm that the said vehicle at the Tema Port is one of those vehicles promised former President Kuffour by his friends.Frank Agyekum, the spokesperson for the former President tells Citi News in an interview that Mr Kuffour has not ordered any BMW 7 Series vehicle.“We don’t know anything about the vehicle that has come to the port that is said to have been impounded. There is a bottom line however in that the former president himself has not imported such vehicle,” he said.“Definitely, we need to put in place some checks to find out the story but then what we just want to put across now is that the former president really has not imported that vehicle that is being talked about and he has not imported any 7 series BMW into the country.”At least two former Ministers of State, Asamoah Boateng and Kojo Mpiani among others have indicated they intend to buy the Former President a vehicle befitting his status as former Head of State.Frank Agyekum told Citi News that none of those persons had delivered any vehicle or followed up yet on the promise.“On Asamoah Boateng’s part, I can tell you emphatically that his group has not imported any vehicle for the former President. I can say that emphatically for Asamoah Boateng. As to the other persons and other groups who have said so, all we know is that they have just said it. Nobody has done anything concrete. Nobody has shown us any paper or has made anything formal to say that they are bringing a vehicle,” he said.Source: Citifmonline
