The Upper East Region on Thursday completed the endorsement of all the nine District Chief Executives (DCES) appointed by the President to the District Assemblies in the Region.Mr. Moro Adams Anaba who failed to secure two thirds of the votes on April 28 to become the DCE for the Bawku West District, this time was able to secure the required votes. He polled 39 votes against two votes representing 95.1 per cent.Swearing him into office, the Upper East Regional Minister, Mr. Mark Woyongo, asked him not to discriminate among people since he was elected to serve everybody in the area and appealed to members of the Assembly to bury their political differences and help the DCE to push the development of the area forward.He stressed that politics was about development and now that elections were over, all members irrespective of their political interest should make the development of the District their priority.He told the DCE and the assembly members that they would be held accountable and to render their stewardship at the end of every year.Mr. Woyongo challenged the DCE- elect and the members of the assembly to check the smuggling of fuel in the area and to also enforce by-laws on environmental degradation, especially indiscriminate littering of refuse.He urged the people of Zebilla to preach peace to their brothers and sisters in Bawku to stop the conflict and said a lot of resources which should have been used to develop the area, had rather been used to keep peace in the area.Many development partners, he noted, had vacated the place and Investors sent their business else where therefore retarding development.The DCE-elect thanked the assembly members for the confidence reposed in him and pledged to work hard to develop the area.Mr. Anaba indicated that he alone could not single handedly move the development of the area forward and would need all assembly members on board to enable him discharged his duties efficiently.He said under his administration, he would have an open door policy for people to contribute constructively to the development of the area and work hard to cement the relationship between him and the NDC party Executive and the rank and file of the party.He said he would put in place prudent strategies to mobilize revenue, which was one of the major challenges facing the assembly.He stated that he would also liaise with all developmental partners in the district to formulate policies to address the poverty situation in the area.Source: GNA
