Constituency executives of the People's National Convention (PNC) in Zebilla have stated that Mr John Akparibo Ndebugre's joining the New Patriotic party (NPP) did not come as a surprise to them, describing it as belated, as he campaigned against the PNC in the last elections. They said ever since Mr Ndebugre was voted out of office as the First National Vice-Chairman of the PNC at a national delegates conference in 2008, he had left the party and become a floating voter and was no longer regarded as a member of the party.A press release signed by Mr William Apambilla, a founder member of the PNC in the Upper East Region and former Regional Treasurer, said the fact that Mr Ndebugre could not contest on the ticket of the PNC was ample testimony that he was no longer a member of the party. He said a lot of people in the constituency refused to join the PNC because of Mr Ndebugre's controversial attitude."We want to place on record that his controversial stand in the party pointed to -one thing, that he is always right and others are always wrong. We cannot but wish him-well in the New Patriotic Party (NPP)," he stated.Mr Apambilla debunked the claim that members of the party met at Zebilla in May and resolved to break their links with the PNC and said the chairmen and the secretaries of the entire 16 ward branches of the party in the constituency heard of Mr Ndebugre's move through the media. He said Mr Ndebugre's joining the NPP, along with a handful of his cronies and sympathisers, would not affect the fortunes of the party, as he would be replaced a thousand fold because his departure was a relief to the party. He said in the constituency the party was solid on the ground and it was working tirelessly towards putting up a parliamentary candidate for the 2012 general election. He assured Mr Ndebugre and the NPP that the dream of strengthening the NPP in the constituency with the aim of capturing power in 2012 would remain a mirage.Source: Daily Graphic
