The Member of Parliament for Ashaiman Albert Agbeshie has been hospitalized following allegations he was been beaten to pulp by his party constituency chairman. The alleged assault took place during a National Democratic Congress constituency meeting in Ashaiman held on Thursday. Mr Agbeshie said his refusal to support the seizures of public toilets and stations by an NDC youth task force in the vicinity is the reason for the assault. Speaking from his hospital bed, the MP told Joy News’ Sammy Darko, two severe blows were thrown by the constituency chairman, Alhaji Issifu Braimah, one he parried away, but the other landed in the face. “When I said please allow the people to explain, he shouted, banged the table. The next thing was a blow, which I blocked. Within a second, came another one," Mr Agbeshie narrated. Blistering as the blows were, Mr. Agbeshie insisted he managed to stay on his feet without visiting the canvas. He has subsequently lodged a complaint at the police station, and reported the incident to his party executives at the National and regional levels. However, Alhaji Braimah has denied assaulting his MP. He told Joy News, there were verbal exchanges as the MP usurped his powers as the Chairman during the meeting. He said he has no problems with the Mr Agbeshie and his surprised the MP will accuse him falsely of assault. “I didn’t touch him.
