The Ministry of Education intends to review the duration of the senior high school programmes at a two-day forum from May 27 to May 28, 2009 at the auditorium of the College of Physicians and Surgeons, Accra, on the theme, "Reaching a National Consensus on the Duration of Senior High School for Affordable Quality Education". A statement signed by the Minister of Education, Mr. Alex Tettey-Enyo, inviting members of the public to submit memorandum on the ministry’s decision to review the duration urged the general public to send their submissions on the theme to the Forum Secretariat at the ministry before May 25, 2009. The statement noted that an 11-member committee instituted by the minister and chaired by Dr Stephen Ayidiya of the University of Ghana had been commissioned to plan the forum. The statement said more than 700 participants were expected to attend the forum and they would include representatives from all ministries, selected agencies under the Education Ministry, personnel of the Ghana Education Service, civil society organizations within the education sector, registered political parties, chiefs, students and the general public.
