The Minority in Parliament are incensed over the closure of major roads for the celebration of the 30th anniversary for the June 4th uprising.All major roads leading to what was once known as the Flag Staff Square were blocked as majority MPs and other leading members of government converged for a brief ceremony on Thursday morning to mark the anniversary celebration.Flames were lit and wreaths laid in memory of those who lost their lives in a military uprising in 1979 which overthrew the Supreme Military Council, headed by Gen. F.W.K. Akuffo.On the floor of Parliament, largely deserted, the Minority could not hide their displeasure over what they said was the traffic caused by the road closure.MP for Tafo, Akoto Osei and MP for Sekondi, Papa Owusu Ankamah took turns to express their displeasure to the Speaker, Mrs Joyce Bamford Addo.They could not understand why public roads would be closed for a celebration which according to them was not sanctioned by the Constitution and remains purely private.Meanwhile, cadres, loyalists of the June 4 uprising attended a rally at Kasoa, addressed by ex-President Rawlings and leading members of the NDC.Story by Nathan Gadugah/Myjoyonline
