The Women’s wing of the Asawase constituency of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has affirmed its confidence in the embattled Member of Parliament (MP) for the area, Alhaji Mohammed Muntaka Mubarak. The group said members were convinced that Alhaji Mubarak was a man of substance and that there was no way they would abandon him in the face of allegations of financial malfeasance levelled against him.President John Atta Mills has asked the 38-year-old MP, who is also Minister of Youth and Sports, to proceed on leave pending investigations into alleged misuse of state funds levelled against him.Addressing a press conference in Kumasi, Hajia Hajara Lucky, Women’s Organiser of the Asawase constituency of the NDC, expressed the hope that the Minister would come out clean after the investigations. She appealed to well-meaning supporters of the NDC and members of the Wing to pray for Alhaji Mubarak to enable him cope with the pressures that are associated with such allegations.Source: GNA
