The Convention Peoples Party (CPP) has chided President Mills for drawing National Security into alleged financial malfeasance against Youth and Sports Minister, Muntaka Mubarak. The party says the involvement of National Security in the matter must be condemned by all. The CPP has however commended President Mills for demonstrating a commitment to fight corruption by initiating investigations into activities of some past and present government officials. The Ashanti Regional Secretary of the party, Akwasi Busumpim Boateng, said President Mills’ quick response to corruption allegations is a clear departure from the previous government which insisted on evidence from whistle blowers. Meanwhile Joy FM sources have disclosed that the two men whose accusations lead to investigations into the activities of beleaguered Sports Minister, Alhaji Muntaka Mohammed Mubarak, over the weekend failed to produce adequate evidence to substantiate their claims. Sources close to the BNI indicate that Muntaka Mubarak was invited to the offices of the BNI last Friday for an eight-and-a-half hour joint interrogation session with the Chief Director of the Ministry of Youth and Sports and with his former principal accountant, Adim Odoom. Joy News sources have also revealed that the two were unable to generate documentary evidence to substantiate their claims against the Sports Minister. Both men have been asked to proceed on leave, JOY News has learnt. A final report on the matter could be submitted to the president as early as Monday.
