Ex Foreign Minister has filed a writ against the Attorney General and the Director of the Bureau of National Investigation over what he says is the unlawful seizure of his passport.
Akwasi Osei Adjei is seeking a court order for the unconditional release of his passport.
His lawyer Godfred Daming told Joy News his client is also seeking the defendants to refrain from any further curtailment of his fundamental human rights.
The ex- Minister is under investigations over the importation of rice from India, which sources close to the BNI say is fraught with financial irregularities.
They subsequently seized his passport pending investigations into the allegation.
But Mr. Daming believes the action by the BNI is illegal, more so when his client has not been formally charged with any offence.
He confirmed the defendants have been duly served with the writs and will be waiting to meet them in court.
