Markets in Bono, Ahafo and Bono East Regions to be closed down for disinfection exercise

The Ministry of Local Government has announced that all markets in the Bono, Ahafo and Bono East Regions will be closed down on Monday, March 30, for disinfection purposes.

In a statement signed by the sector Minister, Alima Mahama the exercise is to enhance the hygiene condition of the various markets to contain and prevent the spread of coronavirus.

Giving a breakdown, she indicated that 43 markets are in the Ahafo Region, 125 of the markets are in the Bono Region and 73 markets are in the Bono East Region, bringing the total to 246.

"The markets will be opened on Tuesday, March 31, 2020.

"So far, markets in the Greater Accra and Ashanti Regions got disinfected as part of government's effort to combat the Covid-19 pandemic," the statement said.
