A typical Sunday is usually calm in Ghana, save for churches and other places of Christian worship.
But as Ghana braces up for a two-week lockdown in Accra and Kumasi, two of the country's economic powerhouses, that norm was broken.
These are not ordinary times.
Social distancing is said to be the sure way to stay away from COVID-19, the disease caused by the coronavirus, but in many of the Accra’s markets that principle was thrown to the dogs.
Major markets in the city were swamped by thousands of people - many in panic buying mode - racing against time to make their last-minute shopping before the lockdown hour - 1:00 a.m on Monday, March 30.
This is Agbogbloshie, one of the country’s largest markets.
