The AMA conducted the demolishing exercise on April 15, 2020

Policy research and civil society organisation, SEND Ghana, has condemned the Accra Metropolitan Assembly's demolition of makeshift homes in Old Fadama, amid the coronavirus pandemic.
The organisation, in a statement described the action as “most reprehensible” and that it “demonstrates government’s insensitivity to the plight of the people.”
It has been estimated that 1,000 slum homes in the Old Fadama area were destroyed during the demolition exercise which was conducted on April 15, 2020.
The structures, however, were pulled down for the AMA to conduct its annual dredging of the Korle Lagoon.
