Former Minister for Youth and Sports Elvis Afriyie Ankrah has decried the Minister of Health’s posture during a media briefing on Thursday.
The posturing of the Kwaku Agyeman-Manu is worrying, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Director of Elections said.
Mr. Agyeman-Manu said at the Thursday briefing that Ghanaians should learn to live with the coronavirus.
“The last time I came here, I made some factual statement that coronavirus has come to live with us. It will have nowhere to go and we’ll have to learn to live with it," he said.
He however, added “there are certain things we know we can do to protect ourselves,” outlining safety protocols.
But Mr. Afriyie-Ankrah is dissatisfied with the Dormaa Central MP’s posturing during the updates on the country’s Covid-19 situation.
Speaking on Newsfile on JoyNews, he said Agyeman-Manu made his comments in a very “nonchalant manner” which undermines the severity of the issue.
“You already have a population who are nonchalant; they cannot be bothered…So when you have a Minister in charge of that sector [who] comes out in a very nonchalant manner [it's wrong]. The way he went about it that 'this is normal and we are going to live with it.'
“It’s not normal,” Mr. Afriyie-Ankrah asserted, adding “the tone and manner [in which he spoke”] was worrying.
Meanwhile, the number of positive cases in the country have risen to 5,735 after 97 cases were reported by the Ghana Health Service on Saturday.

There has also been one more death, sending the fatalities to 29 while 294 people were declared recovered; leaving the total at 1,754.
