Majority Leader Osei Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu has revealed most Members of Parliament retire paupers.
According to him, many of the former Legislators who are beaten by life often fall on him and other sitting MPs for financial support.
Speaking to Evans Mensah on PM Express, the Suame MP said Parliament is not a gold mine as many aspiring Legislators and Ghanaians at large perceive it to be.
The Suame MP also indicated his former colleagues are hit hard by life challenges to the extent that some sell-off their assets for their survival.
Mr Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu's comments come at a time Assin Central MP Kennedy Agyapong described MP work as the most “stupid” job on earth apart from being an assemblyman.
To him, it is better to concentrate on his business and other engagements in order to live a better life rather than wasting time representing his constituents.
The Majority Leader has, however, proposed the replacement of ex-gratia with a pension scheme to cushion MPs after their service to the nation.
