Children and teachers of four communities in Amansie West District of the Ashanti Region can now sigh with relief following completion of separate classroom blocks for them.
The GETFund projects, estimated to cost GH¢ 670, 000 each, is to address the infrastructural deficit in schools at Nsiana, Kaniago, Pakyi Camp, and Abodom Brofoyeduru.
Member of Parliament for the area, Joseph Albert Quarm, wants community leaders and other interest groups and individuals to properly maintain the facilities.
He says the intervention is in line with government's agenda of good quality education at zero or minimum cost at all levels.
"The Surest Passport to a comfortable living is Education," he says.
Each school has a water supply system, computer lab, six-seater water closet toilet facility and washrooms, among other components of the projects.
District Deputy Director of Education, John Ranson, says the structure have come on stream at a good time.
"About 17 years ago, school structures were in a deplorable state," adding "I envisage that if four structures are put up over the years, progress would have been made."
Mr. Ranson charges on parents, assembly members and all stakeholders to get involved in keeping the facility in good shape.
"Ghanaians lack maintenance culture and that is our problem."
Assemblyman for Abodom, Paul Akwasi commended the MP for the role he played facilitating the projects. Â
‘’We have struggled for a Standard School building for a very long time.
The current Structures were not up to standard’’.
"The MP promised us a six classroom block and he has delivered.
We thank the government and MP for coming to our aid," he concluded.
