Some youth of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Kumawu Constituency in the Ashanti Region say they will vote against their incumbent Member of Parliament, Philip Atta Basoah in the upcoming December polls.
According to them, Mr Basoah has failed to honour his promise to develop the area.
"We the people of Kumawu Bodomasi will vote skirt and blouse. We will only vote for the NPP presidential candidate," Omane Sarpong, a resident said.
Speaking to the media, Omane Sarpong said since Philip Basoah was voted into parliament he has not contributed in any way to the development of the constituency, thus resulting in their decision to vote him out of office.
Leader of the group, Marfo Koduah has however called on the leadership of the party to look into the matter and address properly before the December polls.
He claims more than 70 per cent of members of the party would vote skirt and blouse in December if the matter isn’t appropriately addressed.
Koduah also says Philip Basoah, has failed to solve the many challenges he promised to fix when he was campaigning for their vote.
One of the angry residents, Ohene Emmanuel expressed disappointment about the MPs performance.
"We are fed up with the MP. We have a Presbyterian school here. Anytime school resumes, the school children study in a church building. We have not seen any effort by the MP to solve our challenges," he said.
Another resident, Akua Darkua also expressed her disappointment in the ‘abysmal’ performance of the MP.
"We need jobs here. We have a lot of unemployed graduates. No jobs, no vote."
Philip Atta Basoah was re-elected to represent the NPP in the upcoming elections.
