The Kpeshie Divisional Police Command has arrested 10 people for attacking the Palace of the Teshie Chief, Gbetsorlor Nii Ashitey Akomfra III.
The suspects are allegedly part of a group that defied the orders of the traditional council not to observe key activities of the festival in line with Covid-19 safety protocols in the Ledzokuku constituency.
The group marched through principal streets of the town amidst dancing and singing and finally besieged the chief's palace amid the throwing of stones and bottles.
According to some residents the police team deployed there dispersed the crowding using tear gas.
However, there was some resistance from the people leading to the arrest of the 10 suspects.
Meanwhile, some residents are also calling on President Akufo-Addo to ease the restrictions, in order to allow them to celebrate this year's festival.
But Chief of Teshie, Gbetsorlor Nii Ashitey Akomfra III appealed to his subjects to obey all the Covid-19 safety protocols and observe this year's Homowo as announced by the traditional council.
