The National Executive Committee (NEC) of the People's National Convention (PNC) says it will hold its National Congress on September 19, 2020.
The event will be used to elect a Presidential candidate ahead of the December 7 polls as well as national executives for the party.
In view of this, the party said, it has officially opened nomination for interested and qualified members from Wednesday, August 19 to Tuesday, August 25, 2020.
In a statement sighted by JoyNews and signed by the National Chairman of the party, Bernard Mornah, the PNC further directed "executives in the parent regions of the 6 newly-created regions to organize Regional Conferences for the election of executives for the new regions."
It also added that "NEC has thus constituted a Congress Committee as provided for by the party's constitution to fashion out all related modalities for the smooth preparation and conduct of the impending National Congress."
The Committee according to the statement is made up of Colonel Luri Bayorbor, Prof Raymond Atuguba, Dr. George Aguilijam, Lawyer Issah Adam, Comrade Sulemana Seidu, Christina Bentie, Dr. Kumi Ansah Koi and Matthew Bakinam.
Also, in adherence to Covid-19 safety protocols, "Congress would be decentralized to have voting done from the various regions, a departure from the old format of congregating at a central location to hold the National Congress."
