Residents of Gomoa Buduburam say their lives are in danger due to frequent cases of murder and a high rate of theft cases there.
They say, the area has become the headquarters of all criminals while their inner roads are also in a deplorable state.
Some of them alleged that the cases of murder began when foreign nationals came to settle amongst them.
Ten people have been killed in Gomoa Buduburam within this year alone.
In an interview with Adom News, some of the residents said they are having sleepless night due to these challenges.
They are therefore calling on President Nana Akufo-Addo to beef up the security in Gomoa Buduburam to save lives and properties.
“There are potholes on the roads, they are in a bad state. The youth need employment and government’s support. They [foreigner] have come to destroy this town. We need security in the town,” a resident said.
The leaders of Gomoa Buduburam Watchdog Committee says, they are willing to help Buduburam Police to protect lives and properties but lack of weapons has become a major challenge because they say all these criminals are always fully armed.
They called on the Member of Parliament for the area, Kojo Asamanyi to come to the aid of the residents.
Chief of Gomoa Buduburam, Nana Kojo Essel (II) said the criminals are hiding in a popular ghetto there referred to as Gab.
He appealed to government to initiate developmental projects to keep the youth employed.
He believes this may prevent them from engaging in social vices to eke a living.
The District Chief Executive for Gomoa East, Solomon Darko Quarm admitted that security in the area needs to be beefed up considering the crime rate.
Nonetheless, he said they are working hard to make Gomoa Buduburam Police Station a District Police Command so that, they can reduce crime.
He assured that the ghettos will be demolished.
Although Adom News' attempts to get the comments of the Police Commanders in Gomoa and Kasoa Division yielded no result.
