Residents of North Dayi will soon have easy access to their farming and fishing communities when construction on the 13-kilometre Trukpe-Botoku-Tsoxor is completed.

These communities although deprived, have contributed massively to the revenue of the assembly through farming and fishing activities.

However, as a result of the poor roads, residents of the town have over the years walked very long distances to the main town of Vakpo as well as other bigger towns to sell their farm produce and fish.

Some of the residents including the Warlord of the town who spoke with Joy News shared the importance of this new road to their community.

"We have really suffered all these years without the needed help we yearned for, but now we are happy that the construction of the road has begun and our problems are almost over," a resident said.

District Chief Executive, Edmond Kudjoh Attah said he was impressed about the pace with which the construction of the road was being done, as well as the quality of work.

Mr Kudjoh Attah noted that the people of North Dayi had been denied good roads for years but thankfully, the President's promise to deliver a "Year of Roads" has brought hope to the community.

"The people have really endured deplorable roads for years and should be happy now that the listening president has made it possible for them to have good roads after several years of endurance," Mr Kudjoh said.

Mr Kudjoh Attah noted that government is committed to making sure that road networks in the various districts are worked on timeously.

Mr Kudjoh Attah who is also the Parliamentary Candidate for North Dayi Constituency under the ticket of the NPP noted that the NPP-led administration is a "listening government" and is determined to ensuring that all promises made by the President are fulfilled especially in terms of road infrastructure.

Mr Kudjoh commended the contractors, JAHNICORF Limited, for the great work done on the road so far and urged them to work on scheduled time.

According to the DCE, similar roads in other towns and communities in the constituency are currently ongoing with some almost at the finishing stages.

The project is funded by the Government of Ghana (GOG) and is expected to be completed in April 2021.

The President declared 2020 as the "Year of Roads" at the beginning of the year and it is the hope of Ghanaians that roads will be constructed as promised.
