The Minister for the Savannah Region, Salifu Adam Braimah has asked officials of the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO) to sack people residing in flood-prone areas within the region.
His directive follows the refusal of some residents to evacuate their homes despite the flood.
The Regional Minister, who anticipates the spillage of more water from the Bagre Dam cautioned officials of NADMO not to be lenient with those who refuse to relocate.
Addressing members of the Savannah Regional Security Council during an assessment tour of affected places, Salifu Adam Braimah said the directive is to prevent residents from being carried away or killed by the flood.
"Some of these houses should not even be here, but the people are so much attached to their house and we have appealed to them that anything can happen so they should move.
"So now NADMO and the rest will come over and use force to move them.
"The response we have been getting from the people is our challenge now. It is our attitude and life is more important than anything else, but see how the people are attached to the house and don't want to move," he said.
In all, some 1750 residents from 14 communities with an unspecified number of farmlands and houses including public structures and livestock have been affected by the flood.
But speaking to JoyNews, the Savannah Regional Director for NADMO, Mohammed Tahiru said his outfit has put in place measure to relocate some of the victims to the Wasipe Senior High School.
He also added that mattresses, bags of rice, and mosquito nets have been given to victims to cushion them temporally.
